EIDB enrolled its 500th participant in to its bio-surveillance protocol: Severe Infectious Disease: Surveillance, Detection, Risks and Consequences in West Africa (EID005). The study is being implemented in five (5) sites, across Nigeria, Ghana and Liberia.
This study is the first EIDB protocol conducted under the Joint West Africa Research Group (JWARG), an Army-Navy partnership focused expanding partner nation capability for the early identification and response to the emergence of high consequence infectious disease threats to the Warfighter. In addition, these activities expand the capability to conduct clinical trials and studies to evaluate infectious disease countermeasures and advance countermeasure product development for the Warfighter in locations of military operational significance and where these high consequence infectious diseases are endemic.
